British 10cwt Trailer

This is the data plate off my 10cwt trailer. Trailers of this type would have been used by the British during the war and towed behind jeeps or other light vehicles. It shares many parts with the airborne trailers of the same period.
It was built in 1943 by SS Cars (who later became Jaguar) at the Foleshill Road factory in Coventry. It belonged to the farmer next door who gave it to another local farmer who welded his huge Lister diesel welder into it. I did a deal with him to build him a proper welder trailer and I got the GS trailer as part payment. It's got the correct wheels, mudguards, brakes, etc. but the (early type) hitch is long gone. I'm busy gathering all the correct bits to restore it. So far I've got the "T" reflector plate, the wiring sockets, lights and enough bits to make a new hitch. I just need to find a decent photo of the tailgate so I can make one and find the time to get started....#:o)

It doesn't look like much, but it's remarkably solid considering it's 60 years old.

The hitch was the early type which has the handles on the chassis. All the other trailers I've seen have the handles mounted on the hitch itself.

Early hitch.

Handle with two pins. The pin with the head should have a split pin through the bottom to keep it and the handle in place and a chain at the top linking it to a second pin which locks the handle in position. The tapered pin is actually for the front leg, but I didn't know that when I took the photo....#:o)

Early type leg and it's tapered pin.... The chain and hook "9" are used to hold the leg up, there's a wee hole in the edge of the foot for the hook.

There must be a reason for the body being shorter than the chassis, but what is it ?? Tool box??

Wheel.....

This odd bracket is fitted at the rear. I'm not sure what it is and whether it's a military bit or a bit of civilian bodgery....There's a hole for a pin, so it could be a crude tandem hitch??? Kind of low though......Whatever it is, it stays untill I'm sure it's wrong.

There's also these three lugs underneath. They look original, but what are they for???
I haven't managed to find any photos of this type of trailer in use, so if you've got one or know of any pictures of them, please let me know.
